A delegation from the Salesian Institute “Don Bosco” Cairo had the honor of meeting with H.E. Mr. Mohamed Gebran, Minister of Labour, as part of the strategic partnership between the Ministry of Labour and the Institute. The meeting focused on strengthening cooperation in the field of free vocational training during the coming phase, in line with the directives of H.E. President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi to invest in human capital, empower young people, and align vocational training with the needs of both the local and international labour markets.
During the meeting, the two sides reviewed the achievements of their joint cooperation, which has proven to be a successful model in delivering high-quality, free vocational training programs. At the Cairo campus, 3,321 trainees were targeted through the Ministry of Labour’s scholarship program, with 2,750 trainees successfully graduating to date after completing training in 23 occupations required by the labour market. The programs also included English and Italian language courses, life skills training, and internationally recognized training certificates.
The partnership has also expanded to the Alexandria campus, where 800 trainees benefited from the first phase of the scholarship program. As a result, the total number of beneficiaries at both the Cairo and Alexandria campuses has reached 3,550 trainees out of a total target of 4,121 trainees.
The meeting also addressed the next phase of cooperation, including the continuation of free training programs, the expansion of joint initiatives, support for the development of vocational training centres, and strengthening the link between training and employment. Discussions also covered the organization of a job fair and a graduation ceremony for scholarship beneficiaries, with the participation of leading companies to provide direct employment opportunities for graduates.
In addition, preparations were discussed for the celebration of the 100th anniversary of the Salesian Institute “Don Bosco” Cairo, marking a century of excellence in technical and vocational education and highlighting the Institute’s longstanding contribution to developing skilled professionals and supporting Egypt’s vocational training sector.
