It is sufficient for you, young people, to go into a Salesian home in order for the Virgin to protect you.
(Saint John Bosco)
Today, Wednesday, 24/05/2023, at Don Bosco Cairo Institute, the Salesian fathers and the nuns of Mary Help of Christians celebrated the feast of “Mary Help of Christians” in the presence of the school, some teachers, and the children and youth of the oratorio.
The title was not new in the Church; throughout Saint Pius V’s reign, the devotion to Mary Help of Christians was well-known and popular since 1500. The feast of Mary Help of Christians was first celebrated on May 24, 1814, the day she returned to Rome following her release from Napoleonic captivity, by Pope Pius VII.
Saint John Bosco wrote in 1868:
“Experience over eighteen centuries shows us that Mary Most Holy continued from heaven with the mission of the mother of the Church and the help of Christians that she began on earth.”
