The feast of Mary Our Help which is celebrated every year on the 24th of May is one of the most important feasts of the Salesians. This feast is celebrated in all Salesian Institutions such as, Salesian schools, oratories , parishes etc. For the past three years, it has been difficult to gather on a day like this to celebrate our dearest mother Mary Help of Christians as a result of covid-19 pandemic. However, this year’s celebration was exceptional and interesting with the presence of Bishop Claudio Lurati, the Apostolic Vicar of Alexandria. It was special this year, because the feast was celebrated with the entire institute’s students, teachers and the Salesians.
The celebration
To mark this important feast, the day was started with celebration presided by Bishop Claudio Bishop of the Latin rite in Egypt. During his Homily, he highlighted the important role played by Mother Mary in the life of Don Bosco and he also explained the reason why Don Bosco gave this title “Mary Our Help.” This was the first time for Bishop Claudio at the Salesian Institute in Cairo, and he expressed his profound gratitude to the Salesians for the good work they are doing in Egypt for the benefit of the young people. He also encouraged the students to work hard and take their studies very seriously because their future depends on what they study today.
After that, as part of the celebration, the institute awarded some of the students who participated in the school tournament.
Conclusion
The celebration concluded with party games organized by the institute.
