Today, Wednesday 24/05/2023, the Salesian fathers and the nuns of Mary Help of Christians celebrated the feast of "Mary Help of Christians" at Don Bosco Cairo Institute, in the presence of the children and youth of the oratorio, the school, and some of the teachers . The title was not new in the Church: since 1500 the devotion to Mary Help of Christians was known and widespread in the time of Saint Pius V. It was Pope Pius VII who instituted the liturgical feast of Mary Help of Christians in 1814, fixing it on May 24, the day of her return to Rome after her liberation from Napoleonic captivity. In 1868 Saint John Bosco wrote: "Experience over eighteen centuries shows us that Mary Most Holy continued from heaven with the mission of the Mother of the Church and the help of Christians that she began on earth."
