On Thursday, January 30th, Don Bosco School in Cairo celebrated the founder of the Salesians, Saint John Bosco.
This occasion was a day full of joy, where students, teachers, and staff lived special moments together. After the first class, all students and teachers participated in prayer. Christian students gathered in the courtyard to attend the Divine Liturgy, which was led by His Excellency Bishop Claudio Lorati, the Latin Catholic Bishop of Egypt, with the participation of the present Salesians, including Father Morcos Helmy, the school’s director. As for the Muslim students, they were divided into three groups, where they participated in prayer and received Salesian formation under the guidance of their teachers.
After prayer, a snack was distributed to everyone, and then the students went down to the courtyard to take part in the grand game organized by the event coordinators, which saw great interaction from both teachers and their students. The Don Bosco courtyard perfectly embodied the Salesian spirit, where students, teachers, and collaborators gathered in an atmosphere of play, mutual trust, and joy.
At the end of the day, all 1,000 students gathered to chant together: “Long live Don Bosco!”
The Don Bosco celebration was a wonderful opportunity for students to experience the joy of spending time with their teachers. The happiness of the students is the main goal for every Salesian educator, as Don Bosco said: “I have only one wish in my heart; to see you happy in this world and in the next.”
A special thanks to everyone who contributed to organizing and preparing this celebration in all its details.
